How it Works
Getting Started - To get the best result, before you contact us think carefully about what you want to achieve. Consider practical things like gaining more flexibility of use for a room, or more storage space. Your principle aim may be to create a beautiful, comfortable living space to give you years of pleasure and be admired by your friends. Think about your likes and dislikes in furnishing styles, colours and patterns. Cut out pictures of rooms and designs that appeal to you and choose which existing furnishings you want to keep. This gives a good starting point for discussion with our designer and you can begin to plan your scheme together.
First Meeting - An initial consultation in the store is free or you can arrange for our designer to visit your home.
Home Visit - On a home visit our designer will discuss your requirements and ideas. They will then start to develop your scheme, and within a week or so, produce a detailed estimate and samples for your approval. We charge just £50 for this, which will be refunded against the final delivery and payment of your furnishing scheme. When you are happy, you simply place your order.

The services available in the Hardware Department include key cutting and reshafting of garden tools including spades, forks, brushes and axes. They also offer a sharpening service of scissors, shears, mower blades and secatuers.
The garden furniture that we sell is built, stained with a clear protective varnish and delivered within 20 miles of the store free of charge.
CURTAIN MAKING AND FITTING
As a part of the Interior Design Service, the experienced staff in the Soft Furnishings Department can also guide and assist you in your choice of curtain styles and fabrics.
If assistance is required with measuring and fitting, Wardens can arrange for a recommended and qualified fitter to call with you at your home at a convenient time.
The fitter will pass the measurements directly on to us and once the fabric selection has been made, a detailed quotation can be drawn up for your approval. When you are happy to proceed, a small deposit confirms your order and your curtains are then professionally made and finished in our in-store workroom.
Blinds, cushions and other soft furnishings can also be professionally made to order on request.
The staff in the Carpet Department can assist you to choose the most suitable carpet for your needs. We can also arrange for a recommended fitter to visit your home and take the correct measurements at your convenience.
Once we have all the necessary information, a small deposit confirms your order and you will be contacted when your carpet arrives with us in-store.
We can hold the carpet in our warehouse until you are ready for its delivery, at this stage we can then arrange for it to be delivered free of charge and fitted at a time convenient to you. Alternatively we can recommend a fitter for you to proceed with your own arrangements.
If you're not quite ready to part with an older suite, our experienced furniture staff can help and advise you about the possibility of having your existing furniture re-upholstered.
Not only less expensive than buying a replacement, you can bring older furniture back to life with new coverings.
We can arrange for your furniture to be re-upholstered by a local experienced team and we can also offer Guardsman fire retardant protection to be sprayed onto your new fabric at only a small extra charge. Enquire at furniture Department for more information.
